I figured my first pierce should be something special. How convenient my wife is a piercer. Damn shame her shop does not do male genital piercing, and therefore she has no training in this area, so the homework began. I have to admit I had some concerns; the pain, infection, and how would "jr" take to being perforated; so I did a bit of reading. I read the personal accounts of all the differnt types of male genital piercings on BME. I finally decided on the frenum because it seemed to be a good balance of functional, ease of care, and I didn't want to sound like a big wuss by screaming like a maniac from the pain. A friend of mine has one and said it was no big deal and he and his girl really really enjoy it, and the accounts on BME seem to confirm this.
My wife was not very comfortable about practicing her first male genital pierce on the man she sleeps with and tried to talk me into going to someone more expirienced, but I was determined that she would be the one to do it. She did a very thorough job of talking to other piercers and researching how to do a frenum, and was constantly checking out my anatomy to try and visualize what she'd learned.
Once she became confident that she could do this pierce, we had her sister watch our children and I showed up at her shop on a night she worked. As I walked into the shop and greeted her co-workers she made final prepartation. She had already autoclaved the jewelry and needle and while she made ready I chatted with the others in the shop. The other piercer, who has never done a frenum himself (and looked a little green at the thought), took some small pleasure in telling me "it will bleed like hell, hurt like hell and be sore for weeks... also urinating will be uncomfortable". I'm glad he's clueless.
I went into the back room, dropped "trou" and relaxed in the dentist chair. We made sure of the predetermined placement, she cleaned me up with some Betadine, marked the entrance and exit holes and applied the clamps. She offered to show me the needle but I didn't want to see it so I just laid back and tried to relax. She asked if I wanted to be warned or not, I said I did. She said she would count back from 3 and that I should exhale on 1. Three.... two..... one..... it hurt a little, but nothing like I had expected and it was very quick. A small sharp pain and the needle was through. Then I looked. She hadn't put the jewelry through yet, and it was an interesting sight... and orange Betadine stain with a very very large 10g needle... I know you say 10g is not so big, but when it's sticking through your penis it looks like a mercury rocket.
She then slid the jewelry in place. A 3/4 inch curved BB... it looked kind of pretty under the florescent lights. Of course anything looks better than the mercury rocket. Yes, in my opinion the sight of that needle is the worst part. It was at this point I could not help myself... I yelled for the sake of the crowd in the other room... "THE BLOOD!!!! IT SPRAYED ALL OVER THE MIRROR!!!!!!" Actually, it didn't bleed at all. And, no, it does not hurt to pee.
After all was over and I was dressed, I returned to the outer room and relaxed... enjoying the euphoria and some juice. My wife and another artist in the shop (Chyna) began to chat about problems with Chyna's jewelry, one thing lead to another and we all wound up in my pickup truck heading across town to another piercing shop to look at jewelry and my wife wanted her new work critiqued by the piercer, Jason, who had given her much help, info and encouragement.
Although busy, Jason took a moment to critique and pronounced the job "well done" which, needless to say, pleased my wife very much.
The after care is not difficult, light washing with anti-bacterial soap once a day and salt water soaks twice a day.
If this pierce works out half as well as I believe it will, my plan is for a frenum ladder of 4 total. I'm also going to expieriment with different jewelry, swapping from a curved BB to a custom ring encircling the shaft.
I'm very proud of my wife, for all her research and even picking out a wonderful piece of jewelry. She did a fine job and I hope she enjoys it as much as I do. I'll find out soon enough.
